A homeowner in Daleville, Indiana was concerned about structural issues in her crawl space that were causing the floors in her home to sag and become uneven in certain areas. The problem had continued to worsen over time so she reached out to Basement Systems of Indiana for a free estimate and inspection of her crawl space. Our Certified Inspector Jay went out to the home in Daleville, Indiana to provide his expertise of structural crawl space issues.
During the inspection, Jay noticed several of the floor joists in the crawl space had cracked and one had completely broken, which was causing the sagging floor issues inside the home. Jay also noticed some areas in the crawl space that showed signs of water intrusion and spoke to the homeowner about adding a sump pump and vapor barrier to keep the below-grade space dry. His recommendations for the the poor floor support including adding our SmartJack support posts that would provide a huge upgrade over the current wood floor joists and beams.
Our Foreman Joe and his crew members Troy and Jesus installed 5 SmartJack support posts and replaced the main beam in the crawl space to provide permanent stabilization. The SmartJacks were installed by attaching steel support beams to your floor joists and a sturdy base at the floor. Once Joe and his crew installed all of the jacks, they adjusted them to raise the floors to a level position. The homeowner was very happy with the efficiency and knowledge of everyone involved on the job and felt that she got the most of her project by choosing Basement Systems of Indiana.
