A homeowner in Peru, Indiana has a 100 year old home with a stone foundation with cracking that started to form a few years ago. The horizontal cracks on the basement foundation walls had seemed to get worse over time and even allowed minor water seepage during a heavy rain. Another issue that the homeowner was concerned about was the window above the cracks was sticking and very hard to open. With plans to sell the home in the next few years, these foundation issues became a priority for the homeowner to have addressed by an expert.
Our Certified Inspector Eric went out to the home to meet with the homeowner to go over all have her concerns with the basement foundation issues and determine a plan of action. During Eric's inspection he took thorough measurements of the walls to determine if the wall was able to be repaired or if the wall was closer to complete failure, which would require a full replacement. Eric explained to the homeowner that replacing the stone foundation wall with block would be the more permanent fix to the problem and would provide more stabilization.
Our Foreman Emilio and his crew members Denis and Marcos began removing the stone foundation wall to prepare for laying the new block foundation. After completing the complete wall rebuild, it became necessary for the crew to install 2 SmartJack support posts to stabilize the floors above. The issue with the window sticking in the basement was resolved when our crew installed a new EverLast window with a well.
Homeowner Bill had a nasty crawl space that was damp and very humid. Concerned about the effects it could have on the inside of his home, he turned to a friend who had referred him to our company based on previous work. Bill was very intrigued by our positive reviews and product warranties, so he scheduled a free estimate. Our Sales Inspector Jay went to Bill's home to inspect the crawl space to further understand the issues he was having down there and how we could come up with an effective solution.
During the inspection, Jay checked the humidity levels and immediately determined that it was to high for a suitable crawl space environment. Jay recommended a crawl space encapsulation, dehumidifier, wall insulation, and a sump pump. Our Foreman Joe and his crew members Dalton and Isaiah quickly got to work removing rotten insulation and debris to prepare for encapsulating the crawl space. Once that was completed, the used CleanSpace Vapor Barrier and SilverGlo Wall Insulation to completely seal off the earth to prevent moisture from passing through. A SmartSump Pump was installed to remove any water coming into the crawl space and a SaniDry Sedona was installed to control the environment.
The crawl space waterproofing job took four days to complete and left Bill a very happy customer. He was thrilled with the crew's hard work ethic and ability to resolve his nasty crawl space issues.
