Improper Vapor Barrier and Mold Present Before Work Began
Before the project started, the crawl space had an improperly installed and failing vapor barrier that left large areas of the ground exposed to moisture. This inadequate protection allowed humidity to build up, leading to visible mold growth on the wood surfaces and contributing to musty odors throughout the home. These conditions made full cleaning, mold removal, and proper encapsulation necessary to restore a healthy environment beneath the house.
Crawl Space Entry Allowing Moisture and Cold Air Before Work Began
Before the project began, the crawl space had a poorly sealed entryway that allowed moisture, cold air, and outside elements to enter freely. This lack of proper insulation and protection contributed to higher humidity levels, mold growth, and overall discomfort inside the home. The failing entry made it clear that a sealed, insulated access point was necessary to protect the crawl space and maintain a healthier environment.
Soda Blasting and Encapsulating the Crawl Space
We soda blasted the crawl space to safely remove mold, mildew, and debris from the wood surfaces, restoring the joists to a clean and healthy condition. After the area was fully cleaned, we encapsulated the crawl space with the CleanSpace system, sealing out ground moisture and creating a protected, controlled environment. This combination of mold removal and encapsulation helped transform the space into a dry, clean, and healthier part of the home.
Installed The TurtL Door for Improved Crawl Space Protection
We installed The TurtL crawl space access door to replace the poorly sealed entryway that had been allowing moisture and cold air into the home. The TurtL provides a durable, insulated, and airtight barrier that helps maintain a controlled environment inside the crawl space. This upgrade improves energy efficiency, strengthens moisture protection, and ensures the space remains secure and properly sealed.
